Rev, Mr Burt
Supt Schools for Freedmen, &c.

Dear Sir.
I write to announce to you that I have secured a lot for Schools for the Freedmen of this town, to be theirs forever. The deed is made to trustees - partly white, & partly colored - for the use of Freedman's Schools. It is the same lot, & unfinished house of which I spoke to you, & concerning which other parties Mr Taylor - had written to you. I write at the very earliest moment, in the hope that you will be able to render us the largest amount of funds allowed, to enable them to complete the building, ready for a school.

I can secure, also, two other lots in this county, in Districts containing near a hundred colored children each. Can you give them enough help to enable them to erect school houses? - three, two, or even one hundred dols each?

Very Truly Yours
W.H. Stillwell, Co. Supt.
