Dear Sir
No doubt but you are aware of a claim of mine against the Govt. has been pending for some time for services I rendered as Bureau Agt of this district. I was appointed by Maj CW Pierce in Jany 19/67 with the understanding that I was to have the [[?]] of the officer, the 17th of April following he (Pierce) wrote me that the fees of the officer was discontinued. That I would be paid a salary by the Govt which I strictly adhered to, until I was suspended by GA Farrand in Octr 11/67 because I could not take the Iron Clad Oath, which Pierce never required of me until that time. All my acts being recognized by him up to that time making six months @ $100, per month & $10 per month office rent which is the amt my successors received bedsides stationary firewood & c which I never charged.
