Dear Sir

You certainly will pardon me for intruding myself on you, when you know how grievous is my troubles and how just my claims.

In Jany 1867 my father P.T. Wright as justice of the peace for this precinct, by virtue of his office was appointed agent of the Freedmens Bureau for this County. For some time he was allowed fees from the freedmen of 25 cts a piece for approving contracts. Finally one C.W. Pierce was appointed Brevet Major to take charge of the district with head quarters at Demopolis in the Bureau. He reappointed my father in writing, making proclamation of the same through our county paper.
