County of Madison }

On the 13th day of September 1869 personally appeared before me John Lee Rodgers Notary Public in and for the County and State aforesaid Prior Turner resident of Giles County Tenn. formerly of Huntsville Madison County State of Alabama. Who being duly sworn deposes and says that on the night of the 13th day of March, 1869 while I was resting and waiting for my supper in the house of Rufus White at Madison Station on the Memphis and Charleston Rail Road in Madison County State of Alabama, I was aroused from sleep by the disguised men who pointing their pistols at me ordering me to go with them out of the house. Which I did, as soon as I reached the door and ran away from them Where upon they fired four shots at me one hitting me in my right shoulder causing a severe wound, and another hitting my coat on the right side above the hip bone. I have had the men arrested but could not make my case good against them. since then I have called on
