sick here for months at a time, in every case I have furnished Food and Medicine such as there care demanded and have never received one cent for what I have done for them. A man came here last March sick, he had been driven from several other peoples houses, because they said they were not able to take care of him. I could not drive a sick man from my door so I took care of him as long as he lived he died during the summer. 
I now ask of you the Head of our great Nation, some recompence for what I have done. I would not ask any thing if I was not reduced to it. I have not a barrel of corn or a single piece of meat and our pressed for debt I was oblige to incur I have no money at all. if you will only gave me a few hundred dollars, it will place me business in such a situation that I hope I can get on comfortably [[strikethrough]] I hope [[/strikethrough]]. Please do not refuse me only think of the milions at your disposal, and you the Greatest man in the whole known World - let not a woman plead to you in vane I am very needy at present and my health is very bad I have two small children to educate. I have ever been true to the Union my sympathy was with the Union during all of the war
