in Morgan County, Ala. he and his wife and children all saw the faces of the men and recognised them. in the fight the cloths they had over their faces came off. I sent him to the probate judge of that county, who issued a warrent returnable August 2" 1869. The man Dean Reynolds was there, but the judge told him the sheriff had not made any return, and for him to return here. That when the sheriff if ever brought the prisoners he would send for him. so he came here. The Sheriff brought the men, and the judge let them be sworn and released them as there was no evidence to prosecute against them

I sent him there to appear before the Grand Jury but as I expect and knew before they did not find bills against the parties.

I am General very
Respectfully
