Dr Sir,
I have just returned home, find your note, Lucien Thompson has been living with me about 2 years, he belonged to a man living in the Blue Ridge, he came here in the spring of 68" and insisted that I should take him - I rather objected - he was very droll and quite rough in his manners - very profane: he came several times before I agreed to employ him - (he was acquainted with the boys that are living with me & have been living with me ever since the war ended - & before too.)

He is a carless heedless thoughtless boy - Though he has improved more than any one I ever saw in the same length of time. He broke his arm
