in early summer fell from a cherry tree - it is about well now - he has been so unfortunate this year that he has not been of much service - but he has been well cared for and is as well off and comfortable as any colored person in the County. My wife saw that he was attended to and dressed his wounds herself, he seems to be well satisfied. This is the first place that he has staid any length of time since the close of the war, he was running from place to place and not satisfied any where, but since he has been living here he has become steadier, and as afore said greatly improved, he received $4.00 from his mother which he seemed to prize very much. I do not know whether he has written to her since or not - he is not at home at present - with the boys, over in the Valley.

In haste
Yours truly
