Rev. Edwin F. Hatfield
Sec'y Presbyterian Committee of Home Missions
Presbyterian from Astor House Block
[[?]] New York City

Sir:
I have the honor to inform you that the payment of your rental accounts of schools under the charge of your association in the State of Tennessee for the Quarter ending Oct. 31st 1869 is delayed, from the fact that the required monthly reports from the teachers at Knoxville - Scragsville & New Market, and New Providence - Tenn. have not been received at this office.

I would respectfully request that directions may be given from your office, to the several teachers employed by your association in the State of Tenn. to promptly render their reports of schools, at the close of each month upon the blanks furnished by this Bureau. Upon the receipt of the above mentioned reports, no unnecessary delay would occur in the settlement of the rental accounts.

Very respectfully
Your obedient Servant,
C.E. Compton
Bvt Lt Col U.S.A, Supt of Education Tenn
