HOME MISSIONS.
Presbyterian Rooms, 150 Nassau Street,
New York, Nov. 28th 1868

Col. Jas. Thompson
Asst. Commissioner & Supt of Education
Dear Sir,
All but one of the Teachers notified by yourself have applied to us and received a Commission The exception is Miss Rachel Alexander at Masons Depot. Can you also furnish me with a list of places where school houses have been built and schools gathered where teachers are now needed? It is probable that we shall have many applications from persons wanting employment, and we shall be glad to send them to Tennessee if they are needed there. An early reply with greatly oblige.
Yours, very truly,
Edwin F Hatfield

George Ballard, Teacher at Carthage, Tenn. applies for a Commission but his name is not in your lists. I have referred him to you for a recommendation.
