and Paris and Memphis Tenn we will not want new transportation  Mr Colby will consent to our removal to any other field if we desire it. Of course he expects us to labor with the freedmen of whatever state we may go. We were recommended to him by the pastors of our respective churches. We write you to inquire if you can give us employment as teachers of freedmen any where in Tenn and if so at what place shall we report  Mr Colby in one of his letters to me says that the "Bureau by recent orders will support teachers" and of course we would expect a support. I have always taught in the higher school and seminaries of the north. The lady of whom I speak is of irreproachable moral character and an excellent teacher.
 
Please inform us immediately if we can find employment in your department and if it is now safe to teach in Tenn or if we can be sent to places of safety in that state to labor in the cherished work of human improvement
