WAR DEPARTMENT.
BUREAU OF REFUGEES, FREEDMEN, AND ABANDONED LANDS,
OFFICE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT SCHOOLS.
Washington, D.C., May 26th, 1869.

Dear Sir:
Circular No 3 from these Headquarters, April 10th 1869, referring rental account from Educational Association to you, renders unnecessary the information heretofore given in "Monthly Report, (blanks no 5) of schools, teachers, buildings, etc," made in accordance with Circular Letter, Oct. 6th 1868. Said report is therefore no longer required. Great care however should be taken in examining the accounts for payment, made on the "schedule report." All statements thereon made should as far as possible be substantiated by personal knowledge, or reliable local authority.

Yours &c Very respectfully,
J.W. Alvord
Genl. Supt. Schools.
