BUREA REFUGEES, FREEDMEN, AND ABANDONED LANDS,

SPECIAL ORDERS No. 28.        
Extract.

1.The lumber and other building material borne upon the papers of the Disbursing Officers of this Bureau will be expended for school buildings and asylums, the latter including tenements for poor refugees and freedmen, in accordance with the provisions of an Act entitled an "Act making appropriations for the support of the army for the year ending June 30, 1868, and for other purposes," approved March 2, 1867.
In all cases of repairs or construction, the lumber and other building material may be expended, and authority is hereby granted to drop the same from their returns, provided all buildings constructed by them be taken up on their returns.
