thinking now of awnings on his little porch upstairs & a matting rug & trying to keep him out there actually all day long, except when very hot. It sure is hard to know what to do. 

I am so glad you finally got Mr Day fixed, after all the big trunk full of clothes to think of her being dressed in yours! We think we know where she is sitting exactly.

Mr Rotan is surely coming & I shall be very anxious to hear what happens - I feel as if Kath would win out. C. says Mr R's estate is growing in value & what could be more to the point! Everything will go right if the money is forthcoming - if she chooses that way of spending it - what can we say! 

Uncle W. was much pleased yesterday with an article I read him in Littell from the Spectator about "Y.R." & the Brittish Egyptian quetion - It was great.
