Saturday, October 23, 1875.

Went to L. Douglas at 9- M.F. sat in the room. Very pleasant. L had not done much. Is beginning the shading of 3 blocks. Had written to L.R. asking leave of absence, so went straight to the cars. 1st to 9th & Green at 25 min of 11 Mr B. came soon after. [[?]] barely got the train. Copes got in at High Street. M.P. arrived in depot at Ch. Hill expecting us. Lovely place. Girls charming- Plain and beautiful mother. Very lovely and kind like all of them. Went down into a lovely little dell after dinner and sat and sang. Trees arching over head. Little stream colors and scents of fall. Got home later and tired because A.M but Oh,

Sunday, October 24, 1875. 

A beautiful warm day. Did not feel well so I did my usual part of breakfast. Broiled spring chicken. Great fuss to make A.W. eat any as usual. Dr L. gone to synod. Dr J. Edwards preached a fine sermon. "Twas unto the king eternal." etc  -some parts beautiful. Sunday school was delightful. Had a most refreshing time with my class. Lesson on "I am the true vine" etc. L.T.S. walked home with me. very nice. Lay down till the time & dressed in the dark. Old Mr Horton preached. Rather peculiar sermon but good old man. Uncle W. is going next Tuesday. Played in conjunction with Mr Wilson to-night. Mr Merell told him dreadful scandal. Charley Dulles has thrown out T. Hainthall- Vile pig. C.S S not in church. Partly delightful day.
