Went up this morning after I had cut out a skirt for K.D. to give L.R. her lesson. To market on the way home.
Upset great bottle of ink on our carpet. Took till nearly dinner to wash it. Nearly all out. Drew till dark. Cudgeled my brains to think of something to put in L.W.'s Xmas box that is to go in his trunk. Finally decided to put in a old poem of mine just for fun with a note and send my real present in a
letter. Y & I went to church and came home alone. L.W. packing down stairs. Goes tomorrow morning in train leaving at 7.35.
Aunt em keeps up her spirits wonderfully. Oh how kind he
has been to me! Another wful day.

Aunt Em went to depot with him in carriage he had a tearful breakfast Though G being used to partings did her best to cheer us. S. Miller came. [[?]] at G's room. Aunt E's who tried to work off some of her feelings Called on J Staples at the Finleys in the afternoon. Uncle L came in the evening to tell us he had seen U. W safely on board.
