for the sand dunes (which are at their most dramatic about two or three miles from here) about four oclock, carrying sweaters, [[Ténilon?]], La Fontaine, "En Marge des Vieux Livres" my thumbbox and our supper in a linen bag. We walked part of the way, rode in a bus part way. then forged off into the most heavenly slopes of pink sand, with Buzzards Bay to the left, the Atlantic to the right and the setting sun turning everything very clear and vaporous. I painted a while, then we selected a sunny hollow to eat supper, then read aloud till about seven o'clock. We walked home by starlight, went to the movies and home to bed. 
Now I must dress as I must get a lot of work done this week. [[Durfully?]]
