RESOLUTIONS.

Such was the state of affairs for some time; when suddenly came the change. An antithetical self rose up and demanded to know what it was all about. An operetta singer indeed! and dressed up like a monkey! And the artist within me, the urge for sacrifice and hard work, those undeniable signs of the artist?

Surely it was for me to tread the hard way of those who follow an ideal. Is one ever poor who contains that ideal?

Then and there I resolved to be consistent, to obey no other urge than that of my art, even though it might lead to the extremes of physical sufferings or to the depths of mental distress. And these indeed were to be endured for its sake.
         
Before leaving Paris I confided to my concierge several bundles of new clothes and told her that the Demoiselles T. would have them called for.
