Film, 2 p.m., 50 Years of Art: Lois Mailou Jones - This movie studies one of the first artists to utilize African influences in American art. Followed by the short film Fringing Back Bechet, highlighting the influences of New Orleans on the life and music of Sidney Bechet. Free with Museum admission.

Sunday, October 13

Concert, 3 p.m., Sidney Bechet compositions, featuring Jacques Gauthé. Free with Museum admisssion.

Saturday, October 19

Film, 2 p.m., The Josephine Baker Story - A biographical drama about the life of this famed expatriate entertainer, starring Louisiana native Lynn Whitfield. Free with Museum admission.

Sunday, October 27

Concerts, 2 and 3 p.m., Tribute to Sidney Bechet. Free with Museum admission.

The Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and closed Mondays and legal holidays. Admission prices are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors 65 and over, and $3 for children ages 3-17. Free admission for Louisiana residents is offered courtesy of Whitney National Bank every Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon. Avilable to visitors are light meals and snacks in the Courtyard Café, open from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The Museum Shop offers a great selection of gift items, including the fully illustrated catalogue accompanying Exploration in the City of Light: African-American Artists in Paris 1945-1965.
