with only the most limited kinds of depiction. (Depiction probably is a good word to use but I can see why Frank uses realism because he's probably thinking of his shapes as figures doing all sorts of crazy, Picasso-like, Grooms-like activities.)

Anyway, it's very interesting and I'm going to jump into it & give a talk during the run of the show here this fall. I haven't talked to Ride Axsom for a while & don't even know whether he wrote to you to ask to do the opening talk. All I know is, he was going to.* I realize it comes awfully close to your leaving for Israel so I don't have strong hopes.
Helen enjoyed seeing you tremendously and came back with all sorts of news. We're getting close to leaving for our month-long trip to France. Eliza hasn't gotten a job & is heading for N.Y. to see what she can do about that. Doesn't look good. David almost joined Polly. He got in to Colombia, but decided for a complex of reasons (mostly financial, I think) to stay here & go to Michigan. I'm disappointed in a way. He knows the campus well and it may seem too much like more of the same, but for one thing he felt that at Colombia (or Oberlin) he would have felt constant pressure to perform (again, the money) & should be freer here.

We just got a call from Jean Dritz in Chicago. She's coming to visit. Will we see you in Sept.?
Love to Gladys & Abe.
Love,
Joel

[[Left Margin]] * He's still going to, but it takes him a while.

Transcription Notes:
The 'o' could be meaning to say "and", it seems to fit with the context of the sentences Unable to decipher the ?-like activities at end of first paragraph.
