Dear Shu:

I was glad to receive your letter today, which added a personal note to what has been a long professional relationship.

I would be silly for me to pretend that the announcement came as a complete shock to me, but I am sure you know that it means a lot more, than a casual parting of the ways.

My association with you, notwithstanding is day-to-day ups and downs, has been an enrichment of any personal, as well as of any professional life. As I said today, in speaking to the Planning Limit members, the most impertinent things you have imbued us with, and which we must by all means maintain are your integrity as a designer, your penetrating quest for the essence of the problem and its solution, and your discipline of examination and re-examination of the results. I wish you a well deserved rest soon and look forward to remaining your friend.
best regards to Hood.
