Dear Mr. Nakashima:

Enclosed is check to cover postage and your wonderful book "Sould of a Tree". Strange how I was drawn to it as a magnet across the floor of the book store. It was only after examining the book and deciding that Ward would certainly enjoy it that I decided to read about the author and it was only when I discovered the words "New Hope" that I realized that you where the one he wanted to visit about ten to twelve years ago. Barbara and Jean (his daughters) and I are happy to be able to present him with a gift we are sure he will enjoy and treasure. The fact that it will be inscribed by a friends from his past whose work and charcter he admires (perhaps unbeknownst to you) will make it especially meaningful. Thank you for your kindness.

The fruit of our conversation appears to have been an answer to my prayer because I have again begun to pursue some person, group or study that will provide me with the spiritual guidance I desparately need. I had despaired of succeeding the past because Catholic priests were stunned, fearful or looke at me as though I was more than a bit balmy when I merely began to relate some experiences. For example, a neighbor with cancer, about to commit suicide with sleeping pills, told me I stopped her, gently led her back to bed and comforted her. I was asleep in my bed a few doors away at the time. A woman in the next town, Hampton, said she had been ill for days, could hardly get out of bed and after talking with me on the phone she suddenly felt my presence pervading the room, and she got strength immediately, got up and cleaned her house. Also, I have had certain items materialize from the air, it seems. A voice at night speaks of an invasion re El Salvador and I hear it announced on the news in the morning. That is new, the voice, and it only happened regarding an airport attack also, which was confirmed the next day. As I spoke to my family once about Nehru visiting me in spirit an hour before, my son turned on the radio and it was announced that Nahru had just died. I could go on and on.

The reason I confide the above to you is that the day after I spoke with you I read in the Time magazine (Design) that you had spent 7 years in the Far East as a contemplative. This tells me that there is a possibility that you may have either experienced or encountered knowledge from others regarding incidents such as this. What I really want to know is...do I ignore these things that happen or do I have a responsibility to develop or unfold these areas? A few years ago while I was resting, a man appeared in spirit and by mental transference spoke of the necessity for each of us to spiritually evolve, do our utmost to better ourselves and others. I found out a few years later that it was Pierre Teilhard Chardin. All I would like is your personal opinion based on your own spiritual knowledge.

Speaking to me of Sri Aurobindo has awakened me from my spiritul lethargy. I called ARE (Association for Research & Enlightenment) and they have about five books by and about him. If you are ever in the Virginia Beach-Norfolk area, you may find it a fascinating experience to visit ARE.

Again, thank you for your kindness and warmth. May God continue to shower you with His blessings.

In His Peace,
Cecile
