Mr. George Nakashima, Woodworker
New Hope, Pennsylvania 18938

Dear Mr. Nakashima,

It was with great surprise and excitement that I received your letter dated January 21. Due to the circumstances of our November visit, it was almost impossible to spend as much time as I would have liked discussing such ideas as you have mentioned in your unusual letter.

These beliefs, I feel, spring from the wells of your lifetime of contemplation., They reflect those perspectives of a man whose vision sees far beyond himself. Each of us on this planet is in great need of the Lord's transformation of our brokenness, and of our desires to be in harmony with Him and with all of creation as well.

I vividly remember reading Hiroshima when I was twelve, and ever since that time, every person's effort in the making of world peace has been a very important concept for me. It would be not only enlightening, but also inspiring to hear men like yourself and Mr. George Wald discuss the anti-nuclear weapon and the peace movement within the context of your experiences and your mutual reflections.
