school affairs in this state, and his unselfish devotion to the interests of impartial education commend his statements to your favorable consideration.

In justice to Mr Colby I hope that the school-house of Little Rock will be retained for the present in his custody. He has made no unreasonable request of the School Board. His duty requires him to make a monthly report of all schools in his District. The performance of that duty is now hindered by the boyish spite of the Board - if the building be removed from his custody the hindrance will be so much the greater that he will not be able to get a report at all.
