This Indenture made the 15th day of May 1869 by and between Samuel A. Caldwell of the County of Henry and the State of Tennessee on the one part and J.A. Brown, H.F. Blanton and John McDonald, Directors of the Board of Education of District No. 1 of the County and State aforesaid on the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Samuel A. Caldwell for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty Dollars to him in hand, well and truly paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said J.A. Brown, H.F. Blanton and John McDonald Directors of the Board of Education of County and District aforesaid or their lawful successor in Office, a certain parcel or tract of land, situated lying and being in the County of Henry, State of Tennessee and Civil District No. 1 and bounded as follows:  "Beginning at a stake with one Post Oak pointed twenty nine and a half poles west of Blake Crutchfield's North east corner, thence north fourteen poles to a stake, thence east twenty poles to a stake on a line with the telegraph poles on the R. Road, thence south with said telegraph poles, forty degrees west, nineteen and a half poles to a stake, thence eight and a half poles west to the beginning."

With all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining; and all the estate, right , title, interest, claim and demand, what ever of him, the said, T.H. Caldwell of in and to the said land and premises above mentioned, and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said A. Brown, H.T. Blanton, and John McDonald, Directors of the Board of Education and their successors in Office, for the use and benefit of the colored people and the said Samuel H. Caldwell for him
