Gentlemen:

This refers to your claim on a shipment to Washington Gallery of Modern Art, Washington, D.C.

Our investigation develops this shipment was delivered in apparent good order. Inspection was not requested until May 22, 1967.

The Express Classification provides that loss or damage discovered by the consignee in a shipment delivered in apparent good order, should be reported to the Express Company at once or, in any event, within fifteen days from date of delivery.

This provision was made in the Classification in order to give R E A Express an opportunity to inspect the container and contents and to verify the loss or damage.

Under the circumstances, we must respectfully decline your claim.

Sincerely,
JJ Grimm
