SERRA FILE Feb. 14

Leo,
I forgot to report that Susan Grody requested work of Richard's. I told her to drop in to see you; she might not have. You know Susan Grody from Hartford? Wagstaff when he was there was encouraging her. She had bought a Morris lead piece from '64.

Raymond Saroff has asked for a Serra (prob. small).

Scull of course has to be remembered for outside piece.

A couple of people I've tried to put off: it seems to me Richard can't suffer [[strikethrough]] too [[/strikethrough]] many studio visits; and won't he be working pretty exclusively for the shows? And I would guess that pieces in the Gugg. & Whitney is pretty much a question of whom you would be selecting to offer them to?

I am going to take J. Patrick Lannan to Richard later this afternoon: he's got 11 concrete circular pads in Palm Beach, from 9' to 16' in diameter to launch sculpture on. Lannan has inscrutable vagaries of taste; Serra at first glance probably is not making work suitable: one thinks of monoliths sticking up for Lannan is thinking of the grand distant view onto the lake: by I have him for a couple of hours & it seems the best thing to do to take him there...
He already has a Frosty myers for one of the plinths & a di Subero; he owns a Judd (from Irving Blum) which he might launch but there is a possibility of another Judd. He is interested in Morris for the project. And Chamberlain: but how is that to be worked: it woul dhave to be a commissioned piece of the kind of work John isn't working in anymore ... The project will take some time & pain before conclusion. Oh, & Nauman: I told hi about the piece in St. Louis with the lights [[strikethrough]]elapne [[/strikethrough]] declamped & the stainless steel, in trying to give him the gist of Nauman's work & the possibilitys for him there.......
