Dear Sir
An old colored woman by the name of Minnie Temple requests me to write to you concerning a claim she had on the government for bounty of services of her Son Fred Temple for enlistment & services in Company D 128th U.S.C.

Her claim was properly made out & allowed, amounting to over $300.00 and yet the Agent, B P Runkle only paid her $97- This was paid in May 1870, since which time she has not been able to learn anything further about it. She says that at that time she applied to Mr Runkle who was in Bowling Green Ky paying off bounties etc. when he paid her the sum of $97- & no more & took her receipt as she supposed for that amount, but not being able to read, she fears from the delay in getting the balance , that Runkle took her receipt for the whole amount [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]]
