Pulaski Tenn

[[stamp]] THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF THE UNITED STATES [[/stamp]]

Sir:

I am directed to reply to your commn. of the 24th ult. that the reduction of the number of bounty agents is made necessary by the want of funds to pay salaries. The Commr. would be very glad to have an agent at Pulaski and in every county but he cannot pay them. To save expense however as far as possible to the claimants Mr. Coons will make an occasional journey to Pulaski and he will be thankful for any aid that you can render in facilitating the payments. The Bureau desires as you do that these claims should be settled without delay.
