Edminton, N. C. April 28 1871.

Colonel E. Whittlesey, U.S.A.

Sir.

I regret that protracted absences from home, and my official duties, has prevented me from sooner receiving and answering your letter of March 28. I also regret very much that there should be any hinderances in the way of the settlement of the matter of the school house in Fayetteville, and will endeavour at once to remove it by forwarding your letter and the accompanying papers to Mr. Batchelor.

I remain Respectfully Yours
Thomas Atkinson
