Dear General.
Your favor of the 1st is received. You ask in reference to Mr Page's accounts of $1279. for Straight University, "Will it not be better to pay him at once, and leave the Chattanooga bill contingent upon making some collections in South Carolina."

Before answering your question categorically, permit me to state what I understand to be the facts in the case.
