A letter dated April 12th also blank certificates and vouchers for $3000 &c were received yesterday, having by mistake been sent to Richmond Virginia,
I now enclose certificates and vouchers signed as desired, hope they will be satisfactory, I also return C Clarks certificate (Bu Agent) to the same effect.
Having received your and Genl Whittlesey's assurance when in Washington in January that the whole amt of appropriation of $5000 should be paid to us (even if it had to be paid out of other funds than these appropriated by Congress, of which there seemed but little mobability, I believe your stated from funds due from South Carolina), we hope you will not disappoint us for the other $2000. Our funds are very low, and we are anxious to continue to make this a successful Institution.
