Dear Sir:
I am constrained to call your attention to a transaction that occurred between a client of mine and Genl. S G. Burbridge of Covington Ky. She Mrs Anna Garrison has now in her possession her certificate of allowance of $375.13, to be paid to her for the back pay & Bounty of her Husband Isaac Jameson a deceased Col. Soldier. No of certificate 573.112. The certificate came to me as her atty or agent, and prostrate on the bed of affliction. I was unable to send it to her; she therefore did not know what amount was coming to her.
Some two months ago. Mr Benj Y. Runkle sent General Burbridge on a paying expedition in our section of county, and he sant for this widow of the said Isaac Jameson to meet him at Cov City on the Louisville & Nashville Rail Road, & he would pay her, her money. She done so, taking a grown son with her, and the Genl there paid her off with Fifty Dollars ($50), I suppose he took her receipt for the full amount of the $375.13.
