Dear Sir;
Your Bureau kindly promised us (the Freedmen of Hyattstown) $250 - towards building a school house for our untaught selves & children The vouchers for the same were sent for us to sign in October last which was signed by us and returned to your department - when in a few days; it was stated the money would be ready for us. We went to work & got nearly all framing materials upon ground & at the Saw Mill. We have done about all we can do without [[strikethrough]] further [[/strikethrough]] aid - Please help us - If you can not, say so, and we will have to abandon the enterprise Yours
