I understand you are appointed by the government to settle business of a nature of some I have unsettled in Rockingham Co Va. I am a colored man and was set free by my master St. Clair Kirkley of Rockingham Co Va. He wille me an 2 other brothers, Peter, and Gabriel, 500$ each, and a lifetime interest in 50 acres of land, Peter is not living; but before he died he will his property to me.
