their money paid our fees gave us receipts & went off - This was the last I have heard of them on this matter until in May or June 1870 a number of men came to my office claiming to be the soldiers Nelson & Samuel Terrell &c that they had never been paid &c when cornered they admitted that they had never made up a claim in my office gave Samuel answers to the same questions finally wound up by saying they had never been in my office before. One of them admitted his name was not Terrell but claimed he was a friend of Terrell & came to inquire for him. Saying Terrell was in Kentucky

Upon this I would have nothing further to do with them and referred them to the Bureau R. F. &c. Prosecuted my receipts and had the men make their statements before the officer Thereof. Since which time until recently I have heard nothing of the matter though some of the party in fact one who originally claimed as a Terrell then friend of Terrell
