on that day before a Notary public, is before me. I also find that sum opposite Wilsons name, in the Cash book of T.T. & Co. of that date. His statement therefore respecting the "fifty dollars at one time" is correct.

In reference to the government Bounty, he was paid every dollar and every cent, - namely One Hundred and seven dollars and forty four cents, ($107 44/100) without any deduction whatever, for any sum, large or small; and his receipt for that amount was not intended to include, and did not include anything or any sum other than the above named bounty of $107 44, which was paid to him in our office in full, and in the undisputed possession of which he left us, so far as we supposed, entirely satisfied:-

Our cash book also shows this amount & have been paid him as above stated.- on the 8th day of September 1868.
The above statement General, is a candid exhibit of our transactions with Thos Wilson, - true in every particular, to the best of my knowledge and belief, without predjudice or concealment. I freely submit the facts to you, and propose to be governed by your decision; if you are not satisfied that the man has been paid as herein stated, or that the discount from his state bounty should be refunded him, say what sum and in what manner I shall remit, and I will see that you are fully satisfied.

Very Respectfully
John L. Sears
