Sir
Catherine Owen was allowed $369.77 as per Cert No 573128 - 25th Nov 70 - and but recently paid = the whole family or some of them got the old woman to agree to let them have the money She came to town and informed me I then prepared a Special order for her check to be sent to me that her money could be deposited in Bank. You disregard the order and send the claim to McMullen, he was [[twee?]] her and failed to pay her. Neither me nor her was notified in time for me to send for him. She was prevailed upon by those wanting her money to go to Clarksville after it at great expence - and she is now without money - not enough to pay me what I advanced to keep her from want.

I have several times requested a return of that order and I fail to get it. Will you please send it to me.

Why is it that you retain the Claim of Rhoda Guffey the mother of Alex Guffey late of Co D 8th Batty who died before his check came to hand and was returned, it should not be held up until the old woman drops off. She is very urgent for her money.

There is 12 other cases allowed and in your hands for a long time that I do not know what has become of them
