Mr Batchelor does not live here & knows nothing "of his own knowledge" about the property - it having come into his possession after its completion & use as a church. He is therefore unwilling to make any affidavit "of his own knowledge" about a matter of which he knows nothing personally. I wish to ask therefore if an estimate of the quantity of materials now actually contained in the building - made by a competent builder will not answer every purpose of satisfying your department that the House & Lot is well worth its purchase money, six hundred dollars. I learn from the gentleman who contracted for & superintended the construction of the church that
