I see from a Circular letter by order of Genl O O Howard Commissioner I may hope to succeed in collecting my claim directly through your Department by your deducting the amount allowed for attorneys expenses &c. Please attend to, or rather investigate my claim pending in your Dpt. Pay yourself & write me, care of Dr T Jones Hernando Miss concerning it. I sent up the papers as directed by the agent - for the Bureau at Memphis more than a year ago, paid all expenses for witnesses Clk's fees &c, but have not been able to learn concerning the business.
