Office of U.S. Assistant Treasurer,
New York, Nov 7, 1871

Sir:
If it would not give your office too much trouble I would be glad to have you advise me, at the close of each days business, of the checks drawn by you during the day, or if you prefer, have your checks countersigned by one of your clerks. As the adoption of either of the above plans would undoubtedly add to my security in paying your checks I would respectfully ask that you give them your consideration.

Respectfully
M Williams
Asst Treas
