Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
OFFICE DISBURSING OFFICER, STATE OF KENTUCKY
Louisville Ky. Nov 18th 1871

Gen'l E. Whittlesey:
A.A.A.General,

General,

I have the honor to request that the commission, appointed by S.O #152, dated Washington D.C. Oct 23rd 1871, for the investigation of Bounty frauds be given authority to proceed from Louisville Ky to Lexington Ky and return.

From prevent appearances, it is believed that it may be necessary to hold a session of the Commission at Lexington, to accommodate parties whose claims are for small amounts and who cannot afford to incur the expense of a trip to this city. The trip will be made unless it is deemed absolutely necessary.

Very respectfully
Your Ob't Serv't
JMH Cook
for the Commission
