Nov. 22nd 1871 Respectfully returned to Mr Ray who will please call on Mr. Carr for such evidence as he may possess of having loaned money to Maria Drain, giving dates and amounts, etc. If Mr Carr's statement is not satisfactory it is further suggested that action be taken to compel him to refund the amount to claimant. I am convinced in my own mind of the truthfulness of Mr[[strikethrough]]s[[/strikethrough]] Carr's statements, and are satisfied that the statements of Maria Drain as to not receiving any money from Mr Carr are as false as those relative to the transactions in my office certainly are.
