Howard Superintendent Freedmens Bureau &c Washington, D.C. Dr Sir I learn that Mr Ray at present Superintending affairs of at the "Bureau in this state, prefers to resign at an early day. In that case I beg leave to Recommend Mr P J Overly, for his successor, to fill the place so long as one may be needed in this State. Mr Overly has been a long time a clerk in the office and is familiar with the business and is competent for the place. Was a soldier in the Army; and is a worthy young married and devoted Republican vy truly Sam McKee
