The state convention of 1865 on 29" September, passed an ordinance legalizing as marriage the living together of Freedmen and women who were doing so at the date of its passage, and there is every reason to suppose that these parties would  been living together as such if they had not enlisted in the army, and being  therefore kept from their wives. Those who died before that time the doubt is sure on Newspaper.

I hope you will pardon the length of this letter, but I have tried to get our representatives in  Congress to take hold of the matter, but have not been able to get them interested in the matter depending upon them for so long has been the reason of
