General:

I have the honor to tender my resignation as clerk Bureau R.F. & A.L. to take effect Jany 31" 1872, and respectfully request leave of absence from date.

In severing my connection with this Bureau, after a continuous service from the organization of the Bureau of over six years, I beg leave to return to you and the Commissioner my sincere thanks for the kindness and courtesy which has been always extended to me.
