To his Excellency Andrew Johnson
President of the United States,

I have the honor to represent that General Fisk commanding Freedmens Bureau at Nashville Tennessee so interprets the pardon which your Excellency granted to my nephew B.B. Leake as to justify him in retaining possession of his property. I beg your Excellency therefore to grant an order directing General Fisk to deliver the property at once to B.B. Leake, as he has no pecuniary means whatever, and his health is I fear permanently injured by his long imprisonment, and I have not sufficient to support me in comfort, much less both of us, by granting this request your Excellency will much relieve and confer a lasting favor on your truly grateful friend.
