I have the honor to forward my property returns for the month of August, as nearly complete as it is possible to make them at this time. The records of this part of the state of Mississippi have been destroyed and the citizens seem averse to telling the truth about any of the property held by this Bureau. This report shows

9,000 acres of lands leased to blacks in Mississippi
4,500 acres of land leased to blacks in Louisiana
13,500 acres of land in 81 plantations leased by blacks.
