31,000 acres leased to Whites in Mississippi
21,500 acres leased to Whites in Louisiana
52,500 acres in 170 plantations leased to Whites
13,500 acres leased to blacks
66,000 acres of land leased.

About one half the lands leased to white lessees were abandoned owing to the overflow of the Mississippi. The number of acres under cultivation can be obtained after a careful examination, but we have no data at this time by which to make the estimate.

It should be borne in mind that this amount of land is what was turned over by the leasing agent of the Treasury Department together with the land being cultivated by the Freedmen under the charge of this Bureau. Nearly all of this land belongs to Citizens who will receive it back on January 1, 1865, under the provisions of Circular No. 15.

A report of all City property held by this Bureau is also forwarded. I have never had personal property of any kind under my charge.

Many of the houses and lots on this report have been turned over to their owners since the first of September, and every one who has claims to such property
