11. Remarks The school is small & will be till after Jan 1st. Many children are not clothed yet for winter as farmers gave been slow to sell crops & as wages for the year's work is not paid till Christmas. The colored people need help now as much as they did a year ago. Crops have been short & wages low. Many colored people begin the next year without a dollar - especially those who have large families.
I have been endeavoring to adopt the subscription plan - think I will succeed - have #33.00 per month pledged - will get more. Our new school house is praised by all - the colored people are very proud of it,
I hope to report 125[[?]] pupils next term.
Yours Truly Harry C. Eddy
